False economy

Buying a hand blender (to make soup) from Tesco for £3.96 + waiting to get home before reading instructions including that old chestnut DO NOT USE IN HOT LIQUIDS x deciding to go ahead anyway = kitchen painted in parsnip and apple soup and a funny smell.

DOH!

So it's not really a problem with the hand blender being used in hot soup, more a case of you being a douchebag - presumably, you'd still have soup everywhere, it just would have been cold. I say again: douchebag.

If it's any consolation, I have a v. expensive blender and the last time I made soup I too sprayed it all around the kitchen.
Also, at the risk of sounding like a moron, couldn't you have let the soup stuff cool down prior to blending it?
